BIG BOY LITTLE BAND:

Bret Littlehales, Matt Kelley, Steve “Wolf” Crescenze & Robby Leebrick

10/10/09: Big Boy Little wins DC Blues Society Blues Challenge and will compete at the Int'l Blues Challenge in the "Blues Capital of the World" Memphis, TN, Jan. 21-22, 2010!!!

Bret's opened for B.B. King, Koko Taylor, Junior Wells, and more!

About The Big Boy …

Big Boy Little may be the nom de blues of veteran harp player/singer Bret Littlehales, but then again it may not.  If it is, then we can trace him back to the Northside Blues Band in 1968-69, with a young Bobby Radcliff on guitar.  If not, then he might have been the mysterious harp player on Son House's extended recording of Death Letter Blues in Mississippi circa 1942.  Then again, that might have been someone else.

This we know for sure: he's led the BBL Blues Band in DC for the last seven years, five in residence at the Zoo Bar, and that, much like the Duke of Earl, nothing can stop him. In fact, the brand new edition of the band debuts Thursday nights at the Zoo Bar Blues Jam.

Loved by some, including himself, reviled by some, also including himself, BBL keeps those blues keepin' on, whatever that means.

What they're saying about The Big Boy …

"This guy's a real blues player." - Huey Lewis of The News

“He was a major influence on shaping the Washington blues scene back then & he's still playing the real 100%, low down & dirty blues to this day." - Bobby Radcliff

“Now Bret's back. I guess I better tighten up." - Mark Wenner of The Nighthawks

"These guys play blues for grown-ups." - Bill Kirchen

"(Matt Kelley) - a stunning young guitarist/singer" - Washington Post

Hot Rods: Andy Poxon, Tom Maxwell & Zach Sweeney - 4 guitarists!

Old Gas: Steve "Wolf" Crescenze (bass) and Mike O'Donnell (drums).

HROG - playing their own style of Rockin' Blues!

Great blues talent!  If you haven't seen these young hot shot guitarists yet, you're in for a treat!

What they're saying about these hot-shot Hot Rods ...

"The combination is particularly potent ...."  - Washington Post. -

-

“This band will put a smile on your face that will last all night.” – Steve Kierns, Blues Nation Forum, www.mojoworkin.com.

“Tom is a 19 year old guitarist/singer … with a mature Jimmy Vaughn-like approach to the guitar.  And his slide work is sweetly exquisite, reminiscent of Duane Allman.” – Steve Kierns, Blues Nation Forum, www.mojoworkin.com.

"Andy is a singer / guitar player of enormous ability.  A big mature voice emanates from a pale blue eyed boy with a huge red head afro - you can't believe how strong that voice is. And he is an absolute wiz on guitar.  The combination of the vocals and guitar is as good as it gets." -Steve Kierns.

Zach Sweeney, "young guitar phenom ... A+ student of the blues-rock school of Eric Clapton, Danny Gatton and Jimmy Page"  - Washington Post.

"You'll be amazed at Zach Sweeney pickin' on guitar for all the world like Danny Gatton.” - Steve Kierns.

"Lisa Lim is dangerous with that slide guitar ....  She is for real ...." - Sue Foley, Antone's Records.

"Lisa Lim is an excellent blues guitarist ... quite talented"
- Gaye Adegbalola, Uppity Blues Women,  Alligator Records.

"Where has this fine lady been hiding? ... Lisa Lim should be gigging every night of the week!  She is a player to keep an eye on ... she is up and coming on the blues scene ...."
- Tom Principato, Powerhouse Records.

"....musician extraordinaire ... a very big deal ...." - Zack Zorn, The Free Lance-Star (Fredericksburg, VA).
